Focus On Fitness: What To Do When Your Motivation Is MIA

Sharing is caring!

We’ve all been there. We start a fitness regime with great gusto only for our interest to dwindle a few weeks later. Suddenly, that energy has drained from every fiber in our bodies, and the last thing we want to do is hit the gym. If this scenario sounds familiar, and you’re struggling to stay on the exercise bandwagon, you’ve come to the right place. If your motivation is MIA, I’m here to help get you back on track. Here are just some of the ways you can increase motivation and stay focused on getting fit.

Make it fun

How do you feel when somebody suggests working out? Do you envision enjoying yourself for half an hour or do you roll your eyes and assume that the next 30 minutes is going to be nothing but hard work? Exercise can be tough, but it doesn’t have to be dull. There are so many ways you can make working out fun. Most of us are familiar with the saying ‘variety is the spice of life,’ and this is a mantra you should definitely adopt when it comes to fitness. Even the most dedicated and driven person would get bored of doing the same session over and over again. Vary your workouts, try new sports, get fit with friends and find activities that you actually enjoy. There’s an assumption that you have to run for miles on a treadmill, do a hundred lunges and squats every day and lift weights to get fit, but this formula isn’t the only way to improve your fitness. You could go dancing, swimming or cycling or you could take a yoga, Pilates or spin class. Check out sites like www.Clubfitness.us for classes and timetables. Alternatively, join a team and play soccer or hockey, sign up with a tennis club or do something a bit out there like trampolining or acrobatics. As long as your heart is pumping and your muscles are working, you’re going to benefit, both physically and mentally.

Remember your goals

When you decided that you wanted to start training and get fit, what were your reasons? Were you keen to be more active and improve your health? Did you want to try and lose weight? Were you eager to tone up and define your muscles? Did you want to be more sociable or were you hoping to become more confident or comfortable in your own skin? Whatever your motivation, don’t lose sight of this when you’re “umming” and “ahing” about whether to go for that jog or cycle to work instead of driving. Remember your goals at all times, and invest in yourself. It’s very unlikely that you’ll regret doing a workout, but you may not feel great if you skip a session without a valid excuse. If it helps, write down the reasons and read that list every time you’re struggling to muster up the enthusiasm to exercise.

Celebrate milestones

Are you training for an event? Are you trying to smash a personal best? Have you set yourself a weight loss target? If you’ve got goals in mind, celebrate reaching those milestones and hitting targets along the way. If you’ve got something to aim for, you’re likely to work harder, and you’ll be more focused and determined. Treat yourself to that top you wanted before you started, enjoy a meal out with friends or invest in some trendy new gym gear for your next spin or Zumba class.

Take a friend

Weight Loss Coupon SAVE ishoppurium.comDo you get bored easily when you’re working out? Do you feel apprehensive about going to the gym, joining a class or going to a team training session on your own? If so, why not take a friend? Exercise is more fun when you’ve got a training buddy, and you can also support, reassure and push each other. You can catch up while you go for a jog, you can have fun at a dance or aerobics class, and you can get fitter, stronger and happier together. If you’re looking for fun exercises you can do with a friend, take a look at these ideas.

Work with a trainer

If you find it hard to push yourself to the limit in a training session or you’ve got to a point where you want to step things up, but you don’t know how to tailor your workouts, it’s a good idea to enlist the help of a personal trainer. A trainer can design bespoke sessions for you in line with your fitness goals, and they can also motivate you and get that extra bit of effort out of you when you’re ready to throw the towel in. If you’re looking for a trainer, ask around for recommendations and have a look at profiles and portfolios to find a trainer that will suit you. If you’ve lost weight, but you’ve got a long way to go still, for example, search for a personal trainer with experience in helping people shed the pounds and keep them off. Working with a trainer will give you access to workouts that are specifically designed to help you hit your targets, and it can also help to boost your confidence and show you what you can do. Often, we doubt ourselves, and having another person cheering you on could enable you to learn exactly what you’re capable of

Did you start a fitness regime with good intentions and a healthy dose of enthusiasm only to find that both have fallen by the wayside? Is your motivation slipping away and has exercise become a chore? If you want to get fit, but you’re finding it tough to muster up any energy to work out, bear these tips in mind. Try new activities, have fun and work out with a friend. Set targets and goals and always remember why you wanted to shape up in the first place. Think about how exercise makes you feel after you’ve finished, and reward yourself when you reach a goal. If you can’t push yourself or you’re getting bored of what you’re doing, consider working with a personal trainer. Hopefully, these steps will help you get back on track and you’ll be feeling fitter, stronger and healthier in no time.
