Become a Better You: Five Ways To Get Out of a Rut

Sharing is caring!

When you work long hours, have childcare commitments, a house to run and other important things to get done- it makes sense to be in some kind of routine. You know what you’re supposed to be doing at that time, and you know you can fit in everything you need to do into your day. But when does a routine become a rut? As beneficial as it can be, doing the same things day in day out can become incredibly tedious and before you know it you feel trapped. Life loses its excitement, and you’re so exhausted by it all you don’t even know where to start to make a change. If you’ve been feeling like this lately, here are a few ideas to help you become a better you, get out of your rut and start embracing life again.

Write Out New Goals

Writing out goals can be extremely beneficial. It’s one thing to have vague ideas in your head, but another to write it down and put it out into the world. Write down both long and short-term goals, and start thinking of ways you can go about achieving them. For example, if your goal is to start saving for a deposit for a house then what smaller things could you do to reach that? Is there a certain amount of money you could save each month that means within a year or two you’re ready to go? If you already have some goals in mind, re-evaluate them. Are they still things that are important to you? If so, what will you do to reach them? This can help you to stay on track in life and ensure you’re working towards things that mean something to you. If you’re not sure where life is headed and would like some clues on where your purpose lies, why not visit a psychic? You can find out more at Readings With Matt and other experienced mediums. They can help you to realize what path it is that you should be on.

Work on Your Health

There are few things in life that are more important than health, you only get one body so really need to take care of it. Quit your bad habits once and for all, and embrace a healthier lifestyle to look great and feel even better. You could quit smoking, reduce your alcohol consumption and work on eating a healthy balanced diet. Find an exercise you enjoy and work on improving your fitness levels and muscle tone. Visit your GP and ask for any advice if you need it, they will be thrilled to know that you’re taking on a healthier lifestyle and will give you the support that you need.

Learn New Skills

Learning new things is good for your mental health and also boosts your confidence. It could help you to meet new people, and you might even learn a skill that can earn you some money. For example, a craft could easily be turned into a home business. Learning new skills stops your life from becoming stale and stagnant, it keeps you curious productive which is no bad thing. It could be anything from a sport to a craft to learning to drive, learning to skydive or anything in between!

Spend More Time With The Ones That Matter

When we lead such busy lives, we can all find that we’re not in contact with our loved ones as much as we would like. Have a look at your schedule and do what you can to make time for the ones that matter. Even if it’s one day a month, it’s effort made to spend time together and keep bonds close. Getting out with friends and family is a change of scenery and could lead to you doing new things that you wouldn’t have on your own. Whether it’s a family meal, brunch with friends or a cinema night with your parents, decide what would work best for you and your situation.

Reduce Your Stress

All of us can experience stress at times, but if you let it consume you then it’s easy for life to pass you by. It’s hard to enjoy life’s little joys- a sunset, a rainbow, your favorite coffee or a pretty butterfly floating past if you’re consumed with your thoughts and stresses. Speak to your doctor if you suspect anxiety or depression, otherwise come up with techniques to help you deal with your stress. A hot bath, a sweaty gym session, writing in a worry journal or chatting with a friend are all useful techniques.

Are you stuck in a rut? Are you taking steps to become a better you? What is your motivation? Please share in the comments below. I really would love to know.

Until next time, shine amongst the stars!
