Having a well-organized walk-in closet is already a dream of many. But, what if we told you that you can make your walk-in closet multipurpose by turning it into a vanity closet? Sounds great, right? Now, you’re probably thinking “What is that”? Well, stick around and find out!
What is a vanity closet?
A vanity closet is just that – a closet with a vanity! By adding a vanity in your walk-in closet, you’ll create a perfect “get-ready” hub and eliminate the need to run back and forth from your vanity to your closet to find that perfect lipstick/shoe match. Absolutely genius!
How to make one?
When it comes to putting together a perfect vanity closet, there are some things you’ll need to do prior to installing a vanity in your walk-in closet. Here are the most important steps.
Declutter
The least favorite of all the activities, decluttering, is the first thing you’ll need to commence. Not only will thorough decluttering allow you to completely inspect the space you’ll be working with, but it is also an excellent opportunity to finally get rid of all those “I’ll fit in them again, someday” pieces. When decluttering, take all the clothes (and other items) from your closet, divide them into “to keep”, “to donate” and “to recycle” piles and, of course, only put the first pile back into your closet in an organized fashion. Donate and recycle the rest.
Take care of the lighting
Since this will now be more than just a walk-in closet, you’ll need to make sure you have enough proper lighting that will allow you to both get dressed and do your makeup with ease. However, this is definitely something you shouldn’t attempt on your own, as tampering with electricity can be very dangerous unless you’re a seasoned pro. Furthermore, in countries such as Australia, it’s even illegal to attempt to do any electrical work on your own. That’s why professionals, such as this Sydney electrician, always have their hands full. Find a reliable expert in your neighborhood and layer various lighting solutions in your walk-in closet for maximum efficiency.
Choose the colors
This will be the perfect moment to inspect the design of your walk-in closet and spruce it up a bit, if necessary. The first thing you want is to make your new closet light since you’ll be adding a vanity there soon, so you don’t want to hinder your new lighting with dark wall paint. Alternatively, you can add an accent wall in any color you want, or even opt for an interesting wallpaper. The choice is entirely up to you. Your only goal is to create a space where you’ll feel like a million bucks.
Bring in the vanity
The final step, of course, is bringing in the vanity. Now, you don’t have to go to your local furniture store and buy a pre-made vanity table if you don’t want to. You can turn literally any table you already own (but don’t use) into a vanity, just make sure it’s roomy enough to host all of your products. Additionally, add plenty of beautiful containers to house all the products you’re using semi-regularly and get plenty of makeup holders to keep all of your makeup brushes organized and neat. Finally, if you have drawers on your vanity table as well, label them to make finding the right products much easier and faster. A couple of other worthy mentions include adding some scented oil diffusers that will make the entire space smell absolutely amazing and installing a couple of Bluetooth speakers to blast some uplifting tunes that are bound to put you in the right mood in no time.
As you can see, there really is no reason you shouldn’t make the most out of your walk-in closet by adding a lovely vanity to it. Once you do, you’ll have all the equipment that you need to make yourself shine in one place, which will make getting ready all the more appealing. What are your thoughts? Please share in the comments below. I really would love to know.
Until next time, shine amongst the stars!
