Traveling with your children can be an amazing way to bond with them and give them life-changing experiences that will help them to see the world in a whole new way. However, if you are a parent, you will know that kids do not always get as immediately excited about going on vacation as you do and it is not unusual for them to get bored or disenchanted with the whole experience.

Below are some ideas that can help you to make travel more fun for your kids so that they do it more and have as much fun as possible so that you all get as much out of your vacations as possible.
Take twice as long
If you have young kids, then they are going to navigate around the world more slowly than you do. That’s why it’s a good idea to plan to take twice as long to do anything whether it’s walking around a museum or art gallery or taking a trip to the beach., By doing this, you don’t rush them and they don’t get stressed out by expecting to cover too much ground at once, and you all enjoy the experience more.

Make traveling with your children more exciting
You might be perfectly happy sitting on the beach with a good book all day. However, your kids will be bored of that after the first hour. So, plan some more adventurous ideas they will love. For example, you could rent a yacht and go out to see, pretending you’re pirates. Try learning as much as you can about the hull, the main sail, the Volvo Penta engine, and so on. Or, you could spend some of your time at the beach learning how to sand surf or build the biggest sandcastle possible. Basically, make sure you always have an activity you can fall back on give them more structure, and prevent them from getting bred and tantrumming.

Make them your official photographer
If you don’t trust them not to drop your phone in the sea or otherwise damage your tech, buy a cheap disposable camera or polaroid and let your kids take pictures of your vacation together. By doing this, you not only give them a fun activity to make them better engage with the vacation, but you encourage them to really see the world around them and get in tune with what is going on at your chosen destination, Via the photos, you also get to experience the vacation through their eyes, which is always an interesting experience.

Let them ask questions
Let your kids ask questions about why the local people eat what they do or worship as they do, or make the art they do and don’t feel embarrassed. Kids are young and they are learning things and the more you let them explore these new locations, the smarter and more accepting they will be, and the more immersive their vacation experience will be too.
By keeping your kids engaged and thinking about their particular limitations, you can ensure that they have as much fun on vacation as you do and that means everyone wins. Have an amazing time.

Until next time, shine amongst the stars!
