Happy New Year, love! We finally made it to January 1, 2026.
There is something so crisp about the air today, isn’t there? It’s like the universe just handed us a giant, 365-page blank notebook and said, “Alright, show me what you’ve got.” But before you grab your pen and start scribbling down the same tired resolutions you’ve made for the last five years… stop.
Stop making boring resolutions.
You know the ones I mean. The “I should go to the gym more” or “I need to save more money” goals. They feel like homework. They feel heavy. And because they’re rooted in “shoulds” instead of “wants,” they usually fizzle out before the ground even thaws. This year, we’re doing things differently.

1. Goal Setting vs. Soul Setting
A boring goal is a number on a scale. An exciting goal is a feeling.
Instead of saying “I want to lose 20 pounds,” try “I want to have enough energy to hike that trail I’ve been eyeing.” Instead of “I want to save $10,000,” try “I want the peace of mind that comes with a fully-funded emergency wall.”
When your goals are connected to your soul—to the way you actually want to experience your life—they become self-sustaining. You don’t need willpower when you have vision.

2. The “Micro-Win” Strategy
The reason most New Year’s resolutions fail is because they’re too big and too vague. We try to change our entire lives in the first week of January and then burn out by the 15th.
In 2026, we’re playing the long game. Break your big, exciting vision into tiny, “micro-wins.”
- Want to be a consistent blogger? Your goal for this week is just to open the laptop and write three headlines.
- Want to live a frugal life? Your goal for today is just to pack a lunch.
These small wins build the “success muscles” you need to carry you through the months when the initial New Year excitement starts to fade.

3. Build a “No-Fly Zone”
To make room for your new goals, you have to decide what you’re not doing anymore. (If you missed my 2026 No List, go back and read that post!) You can’t add a new floor to your house if the foundation is cluttered with old habits. Decide today what is no longer welcome in your life—whether it’s negative self-talk, impulsive “cup” buying, or scrolling past midnight.

4. Create an Environment for Success
Don’t rely on your memory or your motivation. Design your life so it’s hard not to succeed. If you want to write more, leave your notebook on your pillow. If you want to eat at home, prep those veggies today while you’re feeling inspired.
2026 isn’t about being “perfect” for 31 days in January. It’s about being intentional for 12 months. This is your year to stop performing and start becoming. I am so ready to see you shine.
