Halloween doesn’t have to mean spending hours in the kitchen.
Honestly, some of my favorite Halloween treats are the ones that look a little spooky but don’t require a long ingredient list or a pastry chef’s patience. Give me a few simple ingredients, a little creativity, and I’m happy.
These 4 easy Halloween snacks are perfect for Halloween parties, classroom celebrations, after-school treats, or a fun afternoon in the kitchen with the kids.
And the best part? They’re not overly complicated.
We’re making Strawberry Ghosts, Mummy Hot Dogs, Oreo Spiders, and Monster Apple Bites. Each one has its own little personality, and they’re all fun to put together.
So grab the kids, put on a Halloween playlist, and let’s get started.

1. Strawberry Ghosts
Strawberries + white chocolate + chocolate chips. That’s pretty much the magic formula here.
These little ghosts are sweet, creamy, and just spooky enough without being scary. They’re also one of those treats that looks like you put in way more effort than you actually did.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh strawberries
- 12 ounces white melting chocolate
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
How to Make Strawberry Ghosts
- Wash the strawberries and dry them very well. Any leftover water can make melted chocolate difficult to work with.
- Melt the white chocolate according to the package directions.
- Hold each strawberry by the green leaves and dip it into the melted chocolate, allowing the excess to drip off.
- Place the dipped strawberries on parchment paper.
- While the chocolate is still soft, add mini chocolate chips for the ghost eyes and mouth.
- Let the chocolate set completely before serving.
That’s it.
No complicated decorating skills required. And if a few ghosts come out looking a little… surprised, just call it personality. 😉
Chelle’s Tip: Make sure your strawberries are completely dry before dipping. It makes a big difference when you’re working with melted chocolate.
2. Mummy Hot Dogs
Now these are always fun.
Mummy Hot Dogs turn an everyday hot dog into a Halloween party favorite with just refrigerated crescent dough and a little mustard.
They’re crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and those little mustard eyes make them ridiculously cute.
Ingredients
- 8 hot dogs
- 1 tube refrigerated crescent dough
- Yellow mustard
How to Make Mummy Hot Dogs
- Preheat your oven according to the crescent dough package directions.
- Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into strips.
- Wrap each hot dog with strips of dough, leaving a small opening near the top for the mummy’s face.
- Place the wrapped hot dogs on a baking sheet.
- Bake according to the crescent dough package directions, until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
- Allow them to cool slightly.
- Add two tiny dots of mustard for the eyes.
I love recipes like this because kids can help with the wrapping. It doesn’t have to be perfect. In fact, the messier the wrapping, the more mummy-like they look.
Serve them warm with extra mustard or your favorite dipping sauce.
3. Oreo Spiders
Okay, these might be my favorite of the four.
There’s something about turning an Oreo into a little spider that makes a simple cookie feel completely different.
These are creepy, sweet, crunchy, and so easy.
Ingredients
- 12 Oreo cookies
- 48 pretzel sticks
- 24 candy eyes
How to Make Oreo Spiders
- Carefully separate each Oreo if needed.
- Break the pretzel sticks into smaller pieces to create spider legs.
- Gently insert the pretzel pieces around the sides of each Oreo.
- Add two candy eyes to the top of each cookie.
- Press gently so everything stays in place.
You can make them ahead of time and arrange them on a Halloween platter.
And if you’re making these with kids, let them create their own spiders. Some will have eight legs. Some will somehow have twelve. Just go with it.
That’s part of the fun.
4. Monster Apple Bites
If you want something a little fresher to balance out the cookies and chocolate, these Monster Apple Bites are such a fun choice.
Crisp green apples, creamy peanut butter, and mini marshmallows come together to make silly little monster mouths.
They’re playful enough for Halloween and simple enough for an ordinary afternoon snack.
Ingredients
- 2 large green apples
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
How to Make Monster Apple Bites
- Wash and dry the apples.
- Cut each apple into wedges.
- Take two apple slices and spread peanut butter on one side of each slice.
- Arrange mini marshmallows along the peanut butter-covered side to resemble teeth.
- Place another apple slice on top to create a monster mouth.
- Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
And there you have it… little apple monsters!
Chelle’s Tip: If you’re not serving the apple bites right away, toss the apple slices lightly with lemon juice to help slow browning.
A Halloween Snack Table Everyone Will Love
If you’re hosting a Halloween party, you don’t need twenty different recipes.
I’d make a platter with all four of these. Put the Strawberry Ghosts and Oreo Spiders on one side, arrange the Mummy Hot Dogs on a serving platter, and finish with the Monster Apple Bites.
The different shapes, colors, and textures make the whole table feel festive without requiring a ton of decorations.
And honestly, that’s my kind of entertaining.
Simple. Fun. A little spooky. And nobody is stuck in the kitchen all day.
Make These Halloween Snacks With the Kids
One of the things I love most about these recipes is that they’re approachable.
You don’t need special decorating equipment. You don’t need complicated techniques. And you certainly don’t need everything to look perfect.
Let the kids dip the strawberries.
Let them wrap the mummies.
Let them give the Oreo spiders way too many legs.
Let them build the funniest monster apple faces they can think of.
Those are the moments they’ll remember.
Because sometimes the best Halloween memories aren’t about the perfect party. They’re about standing in the kitchen together, laughing over a plate of slightly wonky cookies and calling them masterpieces.
And I’m completely okay with that.
More Halloween Treat Ideas
If you’re planning a full Halloween spread, these four snacks pair beautifully with other festive treats like brownies, cookies, truffles, popcorn, and fun Halloween drinks.
Start with a few easy recipes rather than trying to make everything.
Your future self will thank you.
Final Thoughts
These easy Halloween snacks prove that you don’t need complicated recipes to make something memorable.
With strawberries, chocolate, hot dogs, crescent dough, Oreos, pretzels, apples, peanut butter, and a few fun decorations, you can create an entire Halloween snack spread that looks festive and tastes delicious.
So whether you’re planning a Halloween party or simply want to make an ordinary October afternoon a little more fun, give these a try.
And remember, Halloween food is supposed to be fun.
It doesn’t have to be perfect.
Happy Halloween, friends!
