Child's Birthday Party Planning Checklist

Sharing is caring!

There are a lot of things to think about when it comes to planning out your child’s birthday party. Not only will your child be there and your family, but there will be plenty of other children, some of whom you may have bever met. So it is a good idea to plan the party in a way that helps all to be included, all the while keeping things within your allotted budget, and that can be great for you, and perfect for the birthday child.

Although with social distancing measures in place, you’re not likely to be having a birthday party for your children anytime soon, you can save this post for later, because we will have a lot to celebrate when it is time to go back to normal. So here are some of the things to think about and check for, when you’re planning and organizing a party for your child.

Two months before

If you want the party to be just like your little imagines it, then it is a good idea to plan ahead as much as you can. Plus, it can give plenty of notice for your guests, so that they can make it and enjoy the day with you.

  • Choosing the date is the first thing to think about. Of course, this is usually around the date of your child’s birthday. But you need to decide to go before their birthday or after, and take into account school vacations and holidays.
  • The next thing is to decide what to do and where to go. Will you have a party at home or in your yard? How about hiring out space somewhere like Apex Sports to play sports or go climbing, or hiring out a hall space to have a disco? Getting in ahead with the booking, if you’re not choosing at home, is best. These places can really book up in advance!
  • Plan out your guest list, and then you can work around what kind of part you’ll have, where it needs to be, and what you’ll do. It helps you to plan catering and party favors too.

One month before

You will have bookings in place at this point, so about a month before allows you to give ample notice to the people that you want to invite. So now is the time to get your invitations out. You could go down the traditional paper invite route, or think about sending messages online or through a text. Just give them as much notice as you can. If you’re asking someone else to make the cake, get it booked in around a month ahead too.

Two weeks before

This is the best time to finalize numbers of guests, plan out the food that you will have, get the food, and plan the party bags. Get these things down now, and then you won’t have too much to think about ahead of the big day. Then you just have to sort the party bags, prep the food, and collect or make the cake, the day before.
