Making Sick Day Comfortable

Nobody enjoys taking a sick day, especially when it’s a genuine sick day and you are actually ill. Having a day off when you fake it is a different matter, but when you are feeling under the weather you do have to take time off and rest so that you can be back on your feet. Being able to do that is important because the healing process will get you feeling better much faster than you anticipated.

Making the most of your day off

You can grab that recipe for instant pot chicken stew, bundle down on the couch under a bunch of blankets and pile up the pillows if you want to. A sick day can be the best thing that you do for yourself, especially when you don’t have children running around all day long. With this in mind, here are several things that you can do to make the most of your day off.

  • Rest, you need to rest. If it’s going to heal, and it’s often not until we feel sick that we realize that the body craves sleep and a slowdown. If you are at home and you’re unwell, make sure that you are giving yourself the rest that you need. Not as often as you need too and try not to crawl off the couch. If you ask starting to fall asleep don’t fight it listen to your body.
  • Get comfortable with wherever you are in the house. You need to make the space cozy so that you can spend time relaxing instead of worrying about something that you have to do. There should be no heavy lifting, no cleaning, and no getting up and trying to maneuver furniture around. While you are unwell you need to heal which means that you need to leave the housework alone and show you are feeling well again.
  • Hydrate. While you are taking medicine, be sure that you are also drinking water. You might not feel like drinking bottles or glasses of water through today, but you should think about making sure that you add a splash of lemon juice to your water service Dave that vitamin C you may be missing. You could also bring peace and have warm brush if you can’t face food they stop
  • Eat foods that will nourish. By filling your body with healthy and nutritious treats is a key thing to do. You need to make sure that the food you are eating is well balanced and hearty, which is why we mentioned that chicken stew earlier on. Try to stay away from foods that are high in sugar and stimulants, because all these will make you feel jittery.
  • Call a friend. If you’re feeling really rotten, the best thing that you can do is to call somebody who can make you feel better. You should consider calling a friend or family member because they will help you to pack up and distract you from the pain you may be feeling.

  1. I’m a mum so if I’m sick I tend to have to work through it. I do try to hydrate and go to bed earlier if possible.
