It’s a brand new year and entrepreneurs up and down the country will be outlining objectives and goals for the months ahead. If you run a small business and you have ambitions to take your company to the next level in 2022, here are some steps to take.
Outsourcing is increasingly popular among small and medium-sized businesses. If you own a company with a small in-house team, it can be difficult to take care of every aspect of keeping the business running smoothly and working towards growth targets. Outsourcing offers an alternative to hiring new members of staff. Rather than recruiting, business owners can work with external agencies or hire freelancers to access services and skills without adding to the wage bill on a permanent basis. Outsourcing should free up time for the core team and plug skills gaps within the workforce.
Popular examples of services that small businesses outsource include digital marketing and managed IT support. Modern IT support for businesses is essential for maximizing efficiency, enhancing security, reducing the risk of downtime, and enabling employees to be as productive as possible. Before you decide what to outsource and which agencies to hire, analyze the skill set of your team, identify areas for improvement and look for ways to save time and money. Meet with representatives, read reviews and ask to see examples of previous work.
Take Advantage of Tech
Technology has never been more instrumental in the world of business. Tech boosts efficiency and it can save businesses time and cut costs, but crucially, it can also give a business a cutting edge. If you invest in technology that will drive your company forward, you could gain a competitive advantage, making your products and services more appealing than those of your rivals. Carry out a tech audit, keep a close eye on your competitors, and research potential investments or additions that are relevant to your business and the products or services you sell to customers.
Improve Your Review Score
Did you know that over 90% of consumers now check online reviews before they make a purchase or choose a company to contact? Excellent review scores enhance brand image and increase consumer trust, and they can persuade prospective customers to choose you over other brands or businesses. If your score is average, you want to achieve a 5-star rating, or you don’t have many reviews online, aim to improve your score. Prioritize customer service, make sure you can fulfill promises to customers, engage with clients and build strong relationships and try to add value. If you sell products, for example, gifts, you can do this by adding options, such as gift-wrapping or personalization. Use feedback to identify shortfalls and problems and gather ideas and suggestions from your customers.
A new year is a fantastic opportunity to set new goals. If you run a business and you have ambitions to take it to the top, consider taking these steps in 2022. Take advantage of the benefits of outsourcing, invest in new technology, and aim to achieve 5-star reviews.

I have so many plans for the new year…thanks for sharing these ideas and tips. Really helpful…I need to start thinking outside the box.
This year I promised to do more outsourcing. It’s the one thing I’ve always been bad at.
When you are thinking growth of your business, outsourcing is a great option. My husband and I run a small business, and we wear so many hats, it’s exhausting. I cannot wait for when we can start outsourcing so we can focus on other things that can scale the business.
It really can help to outsource work. Of course that does depend on the costs.
