Namaste: One of My Favorite Words (and Why It Still Lights Me Up)

Meaning of Namaste

Sharing is caring!

Hey there, lovely souls!

This is officially blog post #3, and I am soooo excited to keep sharing more pieces of my heart with y’all. Today, I want to introduce you to one of my all-time favorite words—a word that found me during my college years, stuck with me through every twist and turn, and still centers me to this very day:

✨ Namaste ✨

Yep, that little word that sounds soft and sweet—but carries the power of a thousand hugs from the universe.

Let me take you back for a second…

College Days & Spiritual Aha Moments

Back in college, I was juggling books, jobs, friendships, papers, late-night study sessions, and all the beautiful chaos that comes with finding yourself. I took a yoga class just to de-stress, not realizing that I’d leave class with more than a flexible back—I left with a flexible spirit.

At the end of every session, the instructor would place her hands at her heart, bow her head gently, and say:

“Namaste.”

Now y’all know me—I had questions! So I asked, “What does that even mean?”

She smiled and replied:

“It means the light in me honors the light in you.”

And babyyyyy, I felt that.

What Namaste Means to Me

Over the years, I’ve come to understand Namaste as more than just a “yoga word.” It’s a whole mindset. A heart posture. A gentle reminder that we are all connected by something divine, something beautiful, something bigger than our bad days and beyond our outer appearances.

When I say Namaste, I’m saying:

  • I see your goodness.
  • I respect your journey.
  • I honor the divine spark within you.
  • I’m showing up with love, not ego.

How I Use It in Real Life

Now don’t think I’m walking around throwing Namaste out like confetti (although now that I say that… cute idea 👀🎉). But seriously, it shows up in the quietest ways:

  • When my kids are wildin’ out and I need to breathe before reacting—Namaste.
  • When my husband and I don’t see eye to eye, but I want to stay grounded in love—Namaste.
  • When I pass someone on the street and want to share kindness without words—Namaste.
  • And yes… when I’m standing in front of the mirror, reminding myself that I am worthy, whole, and shining—Namaste, girl. You got this.

Final Thoughts from Your Girl Lavanda

Namaste isn’t just a sacred goodbye or a spiritual bow. It’s a lifestyle. A choice. A powerful whisper from soul to soul that says,

“I see you. I honor you. I love you.”

And trust me, the more you use it, the more it changes how you see the world—and how the world sees you.

So here’s to walking in love, honoring the light, and living a Namaste kinda life.

Until next time—Namaste, y’all!
xo,
Lavanda Michelle

Until next, shine amongst the stars!
