It’s time to stop the false image of a strong and independent woman. While there’s nothing wrong with being strong or independent — or both – too many women wrongly assume that it means they can’t ask for help. Nobody expects you to be Wonder Woman. Asking for a hand is no evidence of weakness. On the contrary, being able to recognize that you can’t cope on your own is a sign of maturity and strength.
There are many situations in which you’d find that a little help can go a long way. Being pregnant is one of those situations where going through it alone is rarely a good idea. Expecting a baby leads to a variety of changes in your body, mind, and life. The question you should ask yourself is: Why should you manage your changes on your own? More importantly, failing to ask for help can increase your stress levels. When the health of your baby is at stake, you can’t afford to accumulate unnecessary stress.
How do you know what’s normal and what isn’t?
Pregnancy is new, and it doesn’t matter how many expectant mothers you’ve seen before. When it happens to you, there are many things you can’t explain. Should you be putting on that much weight? What can you do about your morning sickness? Is heartburn normal? You have many questions when you’re pregnant, and not being able to find an answer can increase your stress levels. However, if you surround yourself with people who are experienced, such as a nurse or even a friend who already has children, you can tackle the bits and bobs that worry you. Ultimately, you can’t rely on googling all your symptoms to find the best answer. Google is not a source of medical knowledge or family wisdom.
How can you prepare your body for delivery?
Towards the end of your pregnancy, your body goes into labor. Have you ever considered the choice of words? It’s not called labor by chance. It is hard work to deliver a baby. Keeping your body strong throughout the pregnancy can make a significant difference. First of all, women who stayed active tend to experience a quicker birth. Additionally, the body can recover more rapidly. In other words, you need to make peace with the gym and find a class that keeps you fit. An instructor can help you to build up your strength. Alternatively, you can also work with a personal trainer.
How can you afford the essential baby gear?
What do you need to buy for your baby? From clothes to furniture, you need a large budget to tackle all the baby essentials. Needless to say, it’s expensive. But, more to the point, you can cut down costs by creating a baby registry that lets everybody knows what you need. Besides, most friends and relatives tend to buy baby clothes for lack of inspiration or knowing what you want. A list would answer their questions and help you to make ends meet with your baby gears.
Limiting stress as much as you can during your pregnancy implies letting go of the independent image of a self-sufficient woman to be able to ask for help when and where you need it. From medical advice to getting fitness tips, you need to find allies to manage your stress levels!
