A Love Dilemma Between Food, Desire, and Health

Sharing is caring!

Hey beautiful souls, it’s Lavanda Michelle!

Let’s talk about arousal — and no, not just the steamy kind. I’m talking about that emotional, sensory arousal that happens when food, love, intimacy, and health all swirl together in the wild rollercoaster of life.

As I continue this journey to better health — fasting, walking, tracking, and learning to love myself more deeply — I’ve stumbled on an emotional dilemma that keeps tugging at my heart and my waistline: my husband.

He is everything — my forever crush, my biggest cheerleader, and yes… the most loving saboteur when it comes to my food boundaries.

When Love Tastes Like Dessert

He brings home surprise pastries, drives us through late-night ice cream runs, and plans mouthwatering date nights. His love language? Food.
And while I feel the love, I also feel the guilt.

Because I’ve been doing so well.
Losing weight. Gaining strength. Falling in love with movement again.
But every time I say “no” to a treat, it feels like I’m saying “no” to him.

Can you relate?

Missing the Connection… Not the Calories

I miss those hand-in-hand walks we used to take.
Long talks. Soft laughs. Fresh air and shared dreams.

But now?
Date night has become one precious moment per week, and it almost always centers around food. Delicious food. Emotional food. Bonding food. But also… distracting food from my goals.

I’m torn between nourishing our marriage and honoring my body.

Walk-In Date Nights: A New Kind of Romance

So here’s my idea: “Walk-in” date nights.
Not just walking into restaurants, but actually walking — trails, parks, under the stars, hand-in-hand again. Grab smoothies instead of sundaes. Put on a playlist and dance in the driveway.

Romance can be active. Intimacy can be intentional.

But I’m nervous.
Will he feel rejected? Will it lose its magic?

I Need You, My Tribe

This is where YOU come in.

Have you ever shifted the way you connect with your partner because of a health goal?

How did you make the transition smooth and meaningful?

Send me your walk-date ideas. Email me your stories. I want to hear everything — and I’ll be featuring your insights in an upcoming blog post!

Because arousal is about feeling alive.
And I want to feel fully alive — in love, in movement, and in every step forward.

Let’s Walk This Out Together

Thank you for walking with me through this real, raw part of my journey.
If you’re caught between love and lifestyle, please know this: you’re not alone.

Let’s rewrite what romance looks like, one stroll, one sip, and one laugh at a time.

With love and lots of steps,
Lavanda Michelle 💕
