I’m Lavanda Michelle

I’m Lavanda Michelle

Hi everyone! I’m Lavanda Michelle. I’m so glad you stumbled upon my little slice of the internet.  I am a Mid-western girl by birth, who recently moved south with my husband, Tim and our three daughters, Zyan, Zoey, and Zaya, to turn our dreams into reality. This Lifestyle and Educational Blog was born out of my ageless love [...]

The Reformer

The Reformer

According to my test results, Ones are generally ethical, conscientious, serious, sensible, idealistic, responsible, orderly, self-disciplined, and feel personally obligated to improve themselves and their world.  Which was easy for me to confirm to be true. However, the traits that were a little more hard to swallow included judgmental, opinionated, sarcastic, impatient, critical (and self-critical), and perfectionistic.

Remembering Michael Jackson

Remembering Michael Jackson

For as long as I can remember, I've been a fan of Michael Jackson. In fact, one of my favorite movies, The Wiz staring Michael Jackson, was released exactly seven months and four days after I was born. It was the story about a Harlem school teacher named Dorothy who was miraculously whisked away to an urban fantasy land called Oz while trying to save her dog from a storm. Michael Jackson played the scarecrow who joined Dorothy on her search to find the Wiz (Wizard) who could help her get back home.

The Weddings That Weren’t

The Weddings That Weren’t

I was a twice-married woman to the man of my dreams however, I had not had a wedding. Today, as I sit here writing down these memories, I wish I could be describing my wedding as a tear falls from my eye. These past years with Tim are full of good, bad, joyful and painful memories that I look forward to sharing with you all. But the thing that breaks my heart nearly every day is remembering the weddings that weren’t.

Pizza Night

Pizza Night

My mom was cooking the ground turkey while I was chopping tomatoes, green peppers, mushrooms, black olives, and onions. Zyan was placing all the chopped vegetables in a clear glass bowl as they became available. I think her favorite part was when I asked her to toss them lightly with her hands. Zoey sat at the counter. She placed the baby spinach on one leaf at a time from a clear plastic measuring cup adding them patiently until they reached the second line. I remember her smiling and clapping her hands and yelling, "I made it!" once she reached that point.

The Twenty-Second

The Twenty-Second

According to my journal, it all started June 22, 2001. I was fresh out of college and starting a new career. Business was slow so I was journaling about how much this fellow had control over my thoughts. I found myself doubling his name. While my boss was giving me the rundown of my duties for the day and I couldn't help but anticipate my date with Tim.

SunShine Blogger Award

SunShine Blogger Award

Fast forward a couple of decades or three, and I find myself a blogger. As I hear the chimes coming through my computers notifying me that I had a new follower, like, and/or someone commented on my post. I was surprised that one of my newly beloved blogger, Lambam,  had nominated me for the SunShine Blogger award. I humbly smiled and shared the news with my hubby. Then I told him about her blog.
