All parents hope to do the best for their kids and give them the greatest start in life. Becoming a parent can be a daunting time for many new moms and dads and can feel a little overwhelming. You may worry that you cannot afford the best stroller or the latest high-tech toys for your little one to give them an intellectual advantage. But, the key to giving your baby the best start in life is not buying them tons of stuff but instead taking a mindful approach to parenting.
Thinking about the kind of parent you want to be and doing your best is a great way to begin and continue throughout your parenting journey. Being a good parent is not about having lots of cash to buy things; it is about being willing to nurture your child and give them the things they really need. Your baby has no idea whether they have a top-of-the-range stroller and is entirely unaware of these material facts. But, they will be able to recognize you and know that you are there to comfort them and meet their needs, which is far more critical. As your child grows older, their needs may change, but going back to basics is still the best way to give them the best start in life. Here are some of the ways that you can ensure your kids get a happy and healthy start in life:

Make Health a Priority
Your child’s health is likely to be your biggest priority when it comes to raising kids. To ensure your kids are healthy and get the best care throughout childhood, it is essential to look around for the best pediatricians. Once you have found a fantastic pediatrician, you will gain the reassurance of knowing that your child is in safe hands. For added peace of mind, you may decide to select a pediatrician with an office close to your home so that you can visit quickly if needed, and one that also offers a 24-hour helpline in case you need medical advice overnight.
Taking care of your child’s dental health is also essential. So, scheduling regular consultations with your dentist should help to keep any dental issues at bay and will ensure your child has a healthy smile.

Get Into a Regular Routine
Routines are something that you hear about a lot when you become a parent. Establishing routines with your child can be challenging but can make life so much easier for parents and make your little ones feel a lot better. Most children thrive when they have a routine. Routines help kids become familiar with the pattern of their day, which makes them feel more secure, as they know what will happen and when.
Children may moan when bedtimes come around that they are not tired or don’t want to go to sleep, but being out of their routine often makes kids cranky and unsettled. Bedtime routines are especially important for kids, as they help them to settle more easily and get the right amount of sleep. Getting into the habit of having a bath, brushing teeth, and reading a book before bedtime, can help children wind down slowly and get ready for a peaceful night of sleep. When your child has a regular bedtime and waking up time, it will make life a lot easier when they start school and should prevent bedtime battles when they need to go to sleep and wake up at specific times.

Encourage Them to Love Learning
As well as being happy and healthy, most parents also hope that their children will succeed in school. All kids have different levels of academic ability, but a positive attitude to learning is essential for every child to do their best at school. Encouraging your child to develop a love of learning throughout life will help them to approach their time at school in a positive way and will give them the best chance of success.
There are many different ways to help your kids fall in love with learning. Reading with them and getting them interested in books is a really valuable way to benefit their education. It is also helpful to take your child out and about to discover more about the world around them, whether it is a camping trip surrounded by nature or a visit to your local museum. Nurturing your child’s experiences and building their enthusiasm for knowledge is something that will stay with them throughout their lives.

Sadly, in many communities people don’t give any thought at all about the type of parent they want to be to their children.
This is so insightful and I am sure many parents will find it to be useful. I will pass this article on to my sis in law who is a new mum 🙂
I absolutely love this post and agree on all key points. I definitely did all of these and teaching them the ,love of learning is crucial… it must be done in the early years and then it is ingrained when they get to middle school and high school. I also lov the tips on health and routine as both are super important with the kiddos 😉
